Spiritual Exercise Produces a RICH Life
10 THE THIEF’S PURPOSE IS TO STEAL AND KILL AND DESTROY. MY PURPOSE IS TO GIVE THEM A RICH AND SATISFYING LIFE. JOHN 10:10(NLT)
I’ve always wanted to be one of those people who love to exercise but I’m not, yet. I don’t enjoy running, sweating, or getting winded. For me, exercise is hard work that I’d rather do without! Even still, I know that I must workout several times a week if I’m to receive the benefits of it: a healthy and fit body, glowing skin, and longevity.
My issues with physical exercise, is similar to how many Christians feel about spiritual exercises. Do you know that believing God’s word and living according to his word can be hard work sometimes? For me, blessing someone when I’d rather curse them can be as grueling as running 4 miles. But as with physical exercise, the benefits of doing things God’s way are worth the momentary discomforts.
I’m not sure I’ll ever run enough to be a size 6 but I know with all certainty that when I do the hard work of loving others, seeking God in all things, giving him all of my cares, and trusting him with my life and dreams that he will reward me with a life that is better than I could have ever planned or imagined. He promises us that and he’s always faithful to keep his word.
